How to Replace a Windshield Wiper Motor?

Your windshield wipers are responsible for removing anything that is blocking your view on your windshield. This could include rain, snow or dirt.

If your windshield wipers are only moving at the one speed, or aren’t being responsive then you will need to replace the motor.

We have made a very simple, step-by-step guide on how to replace your windshield wiper motor.

1. Remove the wiper blades using a windshield wiper removal tool

2. Locate the windshield wiper motor

If your motor is located in your engine bay, then ignore step 3.

3. Remove clips/ screws that are holding the cowl in place

4. Unplug and unbolt the old motor

5. Remove the old motor from the vehicle

6. Bolt the new motor from where you removed it from in point 5

7. Replug the motor

8. Put the plastic and clips back on from point 3

9. Put the wiper blades back in place.

REMEMBER

Tighten the bolts and wiper blades to the correct torque-ness; this can be found in your manual handbook.

If you are unsure on any of these steps, then it’s best to refer to your manual handbook as this method can vary depending on the make, model and year of your vehicle.
