How to Demist your Car Windscreen Super Fast

In the cold winter months, foggy car windows are a nightmare that everyone has to deal with. The majority of people will find that cleaning their windscreen is a dull and time-consuming task, and will sometimes get frustrated as it holds them up at the last minute. Driving without full vision is highly illegal and can endanger not only yourself but others on the road.

In this article, we’ll share with you how to demist your car windscreen super fast so you can get on the road safety.

How to Demist Foggy Windscreens

  • Heat

You should start off by having your heating on and your vents pointing towards your windscreen and windows at the coldest setting and slowly increase the temperature as you notice the air drying out. This will stop you from accidentally burdening your car with hot wet air that prevents your windscreen from clearing.

If you can’t find a temperature that is comfortable for you to sit in but also doesn’t cause your windows to mist up further, then you can use hot air, but keep in mind that it will take longer.

  • Air conditioning

Turn on your air-con, along with your heater. While the hot air is drying the glass, the air conditioning will make sure that the atmosphere will remain dry to stop the windscreen from condensing again.

  • Air recirculation

Make sure that your air recirculating is turned off. Even though the recirculate will make your car heat up faster, it will also keep the atmosphere in the car moisture, meaning the water can’t go out and allow for your window screen to become visible.

How to Prevent Foggy Windscreens

To save your future self-time in the long turn, you can use shaving foam as a protective barrier to help stop your windscreen fogging up in the first place.

All you need to do after cleaning your car is;

  1. Put some shaving foam onto a clean towel
  2. Wipe down the windscreen with the towel; spreading the shaving foam across the whole surface
  3. Take a new clean towel and wipe away the shaving foam completely

This should protect your windscreen from foggy up for a length of time, however, this process will need to be repeated because it’s not a permanent solution.
