I think I speak for everyone when I say a car exhaust is the easiest part of our car to ignore. It’s because we don’t seem them every day! Due to exhausts being underneath our cars, they can wear faster than any other component, with salt and road grime causing rapid corrosion if not checked on a regular basis.
Getting down and having a look at the exhaust is the last thing we want to be doing before driving to work or even going to a friend’s house, but it will make a huge difference if a problem is spotted early! The last thing you want is a nasty repair bill.
Exhaust manifolds play the leading role in your engine’s exhaust system, but when there is a leak, they are not the first thing to be checked! Due to the exhaust system itself having many parts, it is very complex. The manifold is simple in design and function. They connect to the cylinder head and funnel those hot exhaust fumes into one simple exhaust pipe.
An exhaust leak can be due to a blown exhaust gasket, which will be relatively inexpensive to fix if it is caught in the early stages. Leaks will come from cracks in the manifold itself.

If an exhaust leak is left untreated, it can potentially harm the driver. This is due to the hot exhaust fumes escaping through the leaks, finding their way inside the car. The fumes can slowly poison the driver and any passengers. Small exposure to these fumes will make you sick. If you smell anything unusual, have your exhaust checked immediately!
Cracks in your exhaust can be spot welded depending on the severity of the crack. As well as leaking, cracks in the manifold can allow outside air in which will cause your engine to stall or die. If cracks aren’t fixed as soon as possible, it can cause major damage to the engine such as a blown head gasket and overheated heads.
If you have experienced a blowout, it’s best to get it checked as soon as possible by a professional! Here at MyCarNeedsA.com, we have local garages waiting to offer you a quote!
