Most electric cars on the market today are expensive, but that’s due to the technology being relatively new. In the last few years, there has been a surge of new electric cars on the market, all designed to manage 250 miles of range or more, and most manufacturers are spending billions of pounds developing their electric models.
Many of these are still too expensive for most buyers, however, the technology has started to appear in more affordable electric car models. It is believed that in the next couple of years, Volkswagen, SEAT, Fiat, to name but a few will sell pure electric cars for under £25k!
But that’s not to say you can’t buy an affordable electric car now! The cheapest starts from under £7k (but you have to suffer without doors or a heater). Other electric cars are closer to the £20k mark. Although, in some cases, you will have to pay extra to lease the battery which can cost anywhere around an additional £100 a month.
If you’re after an affordable electric car, but the models mentioned below are still out of reach don’t worry! There are hybrid models or plug-in hybrid models that might be more within your budget.
1.Renault Twizy Hatchback
2.Citroen C-Zero Hatchback
3.Smart EQ For Two Hatchback
4.Renault ZOE Hatchback
5.Smart EQ For Four Hatchback
6.Hyundai Ioniq Hatchback

Do your research on which car will be best for you in terms of how well it holds a charge, what range it will reach per charge etc. and factor this against your own driving habits!
