DRIVING TEST CHANGES ENGLAND, WALES AND SCOTLAND

The driving test in England, Scotland and Wales are changing and there are a few things you need to know. The main changes are with independent driving time where candidates will now be asked to follow a satnav which is provided by the instructor and the independent drive time has been increased from 10 minutes to 20 minutes. This is to improve long-term driving and independence of learner drivers. Manoeuvring has also changed, candidates are no longer tested on reversing around the corner and the 3 point turn, the manoeuvring has changed to include parallel parking and parking in a bay space, however, practicing the 3 point turn and reversing around a corner is still to be practised before the test. There will also be new safety questions asked before and during the driving test, there are two questions in total, an example of the question asked could be how to use the windscreen wash or back window radiator.
